Putting it Together, a musical review is a revue featuring songs from Sondheim’s musicals up to 1992. The loosely connected numbers are tied together by a light plot revolving around the struggles of an older couple and a younger couple, with commentary provided by an outsider.

Productions
The show was conceived by Sondheim and Julia McKenzie and debuted in England in 1992, starring Diana Rigg, followed by a 1993 New York production featuring Julie Andrews. It premiered on Broadway in 1999 and returned to the West End in 2014. The Broadway version, starring Carol Burnett, George Hearn, Ruthie Henshall, John Barrowman, and Bronson Pinchot, was recorded and released on DVD. George Hearn received a Tony nomination for his performance.

Netherlands
In The Netherlands, Putting it Together ran in 2014, featuring Brigitte Heitzer, Paul Groot, Porgy Franssen, Esther Maas, and Matthias Quadekker. Esther Maas and Brigitte Heitzer both won Musical Awards for Best Lead and Best Supporting Actress in a Small Musical, respectively, while Paul Groot was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Small Musical.
